A Brief History of Panasonic   Bookmark and Share

One of the biggest manufacturers of electronic products in the world is Panasonic. It has been a popular brand for consumer items for many years. Starting out in 1918, Panasonic has become synonymous great value, well designed and reliable electronic products.

Panasonic started its operations in a 2 storey building with the 1st floor assigned to manufacturing the electronic devices. And it was started by Konosuke Matsushita. That's where you have heard of the Matsushita brand. Panasonic was primarily branded as Matsushita in the early days.

Expanding its production capability, Konosuke Matsushita decided to transfer to a bigger area in 1920. Even during this period, Matsushita was already credited for creating novel products and were reputed to be producing first-class items at very reasonable prices. The creation of an inimitable adaptor, which allowed 2 light bulbs to be plugged onto a single light socket was one of its frontrunner products at that time. This item, as well as the other products they created earned wide acceptance that required them to move to an even bigger place in 1922.

That same year, Matsushita created a bicycle lamp shaped like a bullet with a battery life that lasted 10 times longer than the traditional light. This invention proved to be a massive success and added to the company's growing sales and popularity. An cost effective electric iron was invented in 1927 putting it within the financial capacity of main stream consumers in Japan.

Another outstanding invention came out in 1931 known as R-31, a dependable tube radio. As it was the first of its kind at that time, Konosuke had the design patented and made it accessible to other manufacturers prompting the development of the radio industry.

Panasonic continued its efforts of discovering and developing new products throughout the 1930s and 1940s. In 1952 it produced the first monochrome television with a rectangular picture tube to be sold at an affordable price. All other television units created after this year have rectangular television tubes. The 1950s also saw Panasonic doing some research on video recording technology.

By the 1960s, Panasonic had its first mass production of coloured televisions. Jump to 1991 and it had created the first rewriteable optical disc recorder for TV images, a precursor to the DVD recorder.

At present, there are 40,000 patents owned by Panasonic in Japan and 54,000 patents in other countries. More than 15,000 items are being produced and distributed by Panasonic all over the globe. With 306,000 employees operating within 600 companies, Panasonic ranks 5th in the list of the largest electronic manufacturers in the world. Panasonic filed 2001 patents in 2007, breaking the history of filed patents by any company.

Panasonic is icon in the world of electronics as it continues to produce revolutionary products and create new markets. With their large investment in research and development, I would say their future looks as bright as their past.

What do we know about repairing televisions? Not a lot to be honest. But we do know about domestic electrical systems. The kind that provides power for your TV. A horrible link, I know but the point I'm getting across is we can fix your electrical system in London.
