Home improvement - painting the outside wall of a house
To improve the appearance of your house, the simplest thing you can do is to apply a fresh coat of paint on the exterior walls. Exterior painting can increase it's resale value. It also saves the house from the effects of the environment, such as rain, wind, heat and cold. Painting the exterior of your house will certainly give you a great return on your investment.
It is important to spend time on preparing the walls before painting. Time spent on the preparation will have a dramatic effect on the end result.
To remove any flakes or peeling paint, you should use a quality sandpaper and a paint scraper. Kepp rubbing until you get a nice smoothe finish. Check the surface again. Fill any cracks and sand any nobbles. Leave it to dry and give it another sanding. Finally, wash the walls down. Use a garden hose or ideally a pressure washer. Now leave it to dry for 24 hours.
Only now are you ready to paint. Use the right paint. You will need a good undercoat and a heavy top coat. Dulux make the best outdoor paints. They are called Weathershield. DOn't buy cheap paint. You're wasting your time because it will take more coats to get the right finish.
