The ten best office plants
Plants make an office. And they make people happy too. We've selected the ten best plants to put in your office. The criteria for inclusion is how they look, ease of growth, how easy they are to keep alive (maintenance is the official word), how resistant they are to pests and how efficiently they remove chemicals from the air. This last point - well to be honest we didn't do the research, but this is popular scientific opinion at any rate - therefore it's probably made up. Anyway, have a look through them. We've put some pictures so you don't have to imagine what they look like and if you click the pictures they will get larger.

Areca palm office plantThe Areca palm is also known as the butterfly palm or the yellow palm. It loves being indoors and flourishes in a sunny environment - but not direct sunlight. It gives out a lot of moisture which is great for sterile offices with air conditioning that tend to be dry. The men with white coats reckon that it can't be beaten for sucking up chemicals and toxins in the air. And what's more - it's a good looker. |

English ivy plant office plantEnglish ivy looks great in a hanging basket. It loves being indoors, so it's ideal for an office and it will live very nicely in a plant pot. Don't put it in direct sunlight and don't let it get too hot. Other than that this plant is pretty hardy, just don't drown it in water. A thoroughly excellent looking plant.

The Boston fernThe beautiful Boston fern. In an office it looks best on a pedestal because sooner rather than later it's fronds will arch and start drooping. It takes a bit more looking after than some of the others on this list. It will want regular watering and it loves a good misting, so keep an aerosol water bottle on your desk. Gives out a ton of moisture and removes nasty toxins. Lovely.
